PROGRAM SYNOPSIS
ETHICAL DILEMMAS IN OFFENDER TREATMENT (9 a.m.ŚNoon) Issues that can lead to unethical behaviors are an overwhelming concern in both the criminal justice system and addiction treatment. This session will focus on defining ethical dillemmas, describe ethical principles for treatment professionals, and identify tools of decision making to assist with ethical dilemmas. The focus will be on creaing and maintaining interactions with clients that align with the evidence-based practices that promote recidivism reduction, client wellness, and an effective culture in the workplace.

DADDY TRAUMA: DEBUNKING THE MYTHS SURROUNDING FATHER ENGAGEMENT (1:15 p.m.- 4:15 p.m.)
Engaging fathers is a major challenge facing socity today. Many factors contribute to fathers being uninvolved in the lives of their children, and this is especially true for criminal-justice inovlved individuals. However, the research demonstrates that helping fathers to establish healthy family connections can play a critical role in reducing the risk of recidivating and promote successful reentry. This session will move beyond the myths surrounding father engagement to examine some of the root causes of disengagement. The specific focus will be on how trauma impacts fatherhood and strategies that can be used to engage criminal-justice involved fathers. These sessions are appropriate for community corrections, criminal justice and behavioral health professionals who are interested in cognitive therapy and intervention with the community corrections and criminal-justice involved populations.
